About

Abi is a garden designer who loves to help beginner and DIY gardeners who are having trouble getting their gardens started. As a former corporate 9-5 employee who loves to garden, Abi can help her clients design a garden they can manage in their busy lives.

She is a Pittsburgh native who lives in the South Hills and is familiar with the slopes, deer, and shady yards that can create a difficult gardening situation for many new gardeners. From walking through a client’s garden at their home to visiting a garden center together, Abi is there to educate the client and help them gain confidence in gardening and shopping for plants by themselves. She also provides hand-drawn planting plans for gardeners who want to know exactly how to grow their dream garden.

Abi has her Certificate in Landscape and Garden Design from Phipps Conservatory, is a PA Certified Horticulturist, and is a Phipps Sustainable Landcare Accredited Professional. Her professional background is in international business but she has worked in the plant industry since 2018. She has pursued continuing education opportunities in garden design through Phipps Conservatory, The New York Botanic Garden, Longwood Gardens, and Chicago Botanic Garden. After leaving her job in the corporate world in 2020, Abi owned and operated Perrico Plant Co., a wholesale and retail house plant business, until it was sold in 2024. She has designed over 150 gardens since opening Perrico Gardens in 2022.

On this website, you can find a full list of the services Perrico Gardens offers as well as Abi’s garden journal which chronicles her gardening experiences and learnings at her home garden.
